EPSRC Doctoral Prize Fellowship Award

I have been awarded an early career fellowship called the EPSRC Doctoral Prize which provides 2 years of funding to pursue research towards becoming an independent researcher. 

This is a big step in my career and I am honoured to be recognised by UCL! My 2 year goal is to push experimental and theoretical progress in the field of optomechanical inertial navigation - how can we use the ultrasensitive optical displacement sensors we naturally create in the lab into a commercially viable but accurate tool for navigation (i.e. similar to the chips in your iPhone that help you use Google maps or track your steps). 

I intend to work with Prof. Tania Monteiro (AMOPP, Physics & Astronomy) and Dr. Paul Groves (Dept of Civil, Environ & Geomatic Engineering) to understand the theoretical aspects of optomechanics and inertial navigation respectively. I will continue to be hosted n Prof. Peter Barker's lab to realise the experimental aspects.
